Alpha Course

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. This highly successful free course was launched in 1977 and was subsequently developed by Nicky Gumbel in the 90’s, primarily for anyone who wants some answers to life’s big questions.  Now an international phenomenon, the course has been translated into 110 languages and held in 169 countries with 24 million participants to date.

More information about Alpha can be found on the Alpha Website.

Chase runs up to three Alpha courses a year at the Chase Family Church Centre, Shirley Road, Enfield, EN2 6SB. Each course meets once a week and lasts for ten weeks.

Hosted by a small friendly team, the format is simple.  Hosts and guests gather to eat a cooked meal at 7pm followed by a DVD presentation by Nicky Gumbel. Group discussions around the tables provide an opportunity to get to grips with the topics presented in the DVD’s.  At Chase, we provide a safe environment in which guests are given the time to ask questions and explore their own response to what has been presented and discussed.

Many people who have attended Alpha at Chase have gone on to further courses at the Centre; others find that they want to do the Alpha course all over again! By the end of the 10 weeks, friendships have been formed and the feedback has always been positive and enthusiastic.

If you want to join us, or know someone who would like to attend an Alpha course run at Chase, please refer to the Alpha website where you will find the dates for our next course and other details by following the link 'Try Alpha'.  Alternatively dates can be found on the Chase Family Church calendar.
